Senescence has a special meaning in plant
science. It refers to terminal events in development at every level of
biological organization from cells and tissues all the way up to
individual plants and their communities. Why and how plants senesce are deep questions
that scientists are now beginning to answer, using all the tools of
modern research. plantsenescence.net is a portal into the current
state of understanding about plant senescence. It connects with the
world community of scientists whose research is expanding and exploiting
our knowledge of this economically, environmentally and culturally
important subject.
